Janine Blackman MD PhD offers a primary care practice of medicine with a difference. That difference is a thorough, practical and precise approach to listening and working with you to create solutions for your specific medical and health needs. She does this utilizing and incorporating into her practice both conventional and integrative medical models in a common sense fashion. By taking time with you, allowing you to be heard, and by working with you to create a tailored dedicated treatment plan, Dr Blackman gives you back the knowledge and care to find the optimal solution to your medical and health needs.
And these challenges are different for everyone. Be it Men's Health, Women's Health, Sleep Problems, Diabetes, Irritable Bowel Syndrome or one of the many other conditions she can make a difference with, working with Dr Blackman means you have an expert who will take the time to systematically address your issues.
Dr Blackman incorporates Allopathic (conventional) care with state of the art complementary and alternative approaches as well as sound therapeutic lifestyle counseling. As the previous Medical Director of one of the largest NIH funded Integrative Medical Centers in the USA you can be sure the level of care you will receive is of the highest caliber. However it doesn't end there. The difference in Dr Blackman's practice to the many others offering Integrative care is her sincerity and belief in the Practice of Family Medicine values. Simply put, there is a respect for the patient and the lives they lead. There is also the underlying belief that people deserve unbiased access to knowledge for treating and preventing illness and achieving optimal health. Giving patients the awareness to enact this knowledge is Dr. Blackman's passion.
To attain optimal health in our lives there needs to be a thorough approach to our healthcare. The General Medical & Health Assessment is the service Dr Blackman provides to facilitate this need. The General Medical & Health Assessment includes an assessment of your stress and lifestyle conditions as well as all standard Allopathic medical investigations a primary care physician would commonly order (such as lab work and examination). By taking a thorough health history and by taking time with you Dr Blackman is able to build up your medical and health picture. This is a far cry from the 10 minute visit that many of us are used to. It requires much skill and time to identify an accurate picture of your present medical and health concerns and areas of life that you may wish to address. This assessment is not radical but is a practice of the traditional methods of quality Primary Care that seem to be disappearing from America's landscape.
Once Dr Blackman's assessment has been made, she will then enact with you a treatment strategy allowing you to receive the best of all possible care. Part of this care includes assessment of your dietary habits and physical activity, and developing nutrition and lifestyle recommendations that fit into your life.
