Acupuncture is among the oldest healing practices in the world and has been endorsed by the American Medical Association, the National Institute of Health and the World Health Organization. It is an effective, non-invasive treatment option that encourages natural healing and improved functioning. Acupuncture aims to restore and maintain health by applying fine, sterile needles that stimulate specific points on the body. Once inserted into these acupuncture points, the needles are then left for approximately 30-40 minutes before removal.
Today acupuncture is widely practiced by thousands of physicians, dentists, surgeons and other healthcare providers for pain and many other health conditions. The treatment is performed in a relaxed environment and takes approximately 45 minutes to complete on average. The length and frequency of treatments will vary depending on individual needs.

Painless Needling Technique
Acupuncture is not in any way like having an injection or blood draw from the doctor. The needles themselves are hairlike in thickness and although there will be a small sensation when the needle is inserted there should be little or no discomfort. Jonathan Gilbert has been extensively trained and prides himself on providing a ‘painless needling technique’ that he learnt during his post graduate studies in Vietnam. This technique means that you will receive the benefits whilst not having to endure the pain of the needles themselves.

Jonathan Gilbert, board-certified by the NCCAOM in both Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine, has a resume that speaks for itself. He is extensively trained in Europe and Asia, well respected in his field, and lectures in some of the finest medical institutions in the world including Georgetown, George Washington, and Johns Hopkins Schools of Medicine.
A Schedule to Fit your Needs – 6 am Acupuncture Service
The Gilbert Clinic is offering 6 am service to fit your schedule and your time constraints. Acupuncture service begins at 6 am Monday through Friday, and continues to 5 pm. This is not a misprint. It says a 6 am start time! If work does not allow you the time to make a daytime visit, or you are one of the many people who work ‘shift’ hours in the Washington region, we are still here to serve you. As far as we are aware, this is the only clinic in the metro DC area offering such a service.
Acupuncture is now an Affordable Treatment Option
In the past Acupuncture was only available to those with the private income to afford it. But this is no longer the case!
- Many health insurances companies will now reimburse their clients for acupuncture.
- Treatments can also be submitted to a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA).
- Contact your health care provider to see if this valuable treatment option is available to you.
The Gilbert Clinic will provide you with a receipt suitable for submission to your Health Insurance Company, FSA and/or HSA.
Fees
The initial fee for a one hour consultation and treatment is $150.00 further consultations are $75.00
