Simply put, The Gilbert Clinic offers the highest caliber of healthcare in a premier Washington DC setting. It is the manifestation of the vision of Janine Blackman MD PhD and Jonathan Gilbert NCCAOM. Dr. Blackman and Jonathan Gilbert began their collaboration, and the creation of the vision that was to become The Gilbert Clinic, in 2004 at The University of Maryland Center for Integrative Medicine. It was here that Dr Blackman served as the Clinical Director and Jonathan Gilbert became their Senior Consultant for Traditional Chinese Medicine. Although one of the most prestigious NIH- funded
integrative medical sites in the USA, with a proven track record in research, Dr Blackman and Mr. Gilbert felt that there could be a better representation of the practice of Integrative Medicine than they were able to create within the University setting. That
realization led to a discussion that in turn led to the creation of The Gilbert Clinic. It was not just a clinic being formed, but a practical solution to the Integrative Medicine paradigm.
After a great amount of forethought and planning, The Gilbert Clinic finally opened its doors in the Washington DC area in 2006. With the opening of The Gilbert Clinic, Dr Blackman and Jonathan Gilbert are showing, on a daily basis, what is possible with the future of healthcare in the USA.
